Women played many important roles in the Civil War, like becoming nurses or spies and secretly signing up to be in the army and fight.
There were hundreds of women that became spies during the war, and between 2,000 and 5,000 women were nurses during the war.
Many women participated in war relief efforts like sewing clothes for soldiers or holding a charity drive. The charity drives could gather food, medical supplies, and other stuff for nearby hospitals and military encampments.
Women were forbidden to join the military at the time, but still over 400 women served as secret soldiers in the Civil War. Some of these women even fought in the famous battles like Gettysburg.
